What Is a Credit Union?

Credit unions are different from other financial institutions. We are member-owned, not-for-profit cooperatives. Our income, after expenses and reserves, is returned to members in the form of lower rates on loans, higher dividends on savings and many no-fee services. More than 87 million Americans belong to Credit Unions.
