BrightStar Credit Union’s CEO & President, Ralph Crockett, has received the 2010 ‘Man of the Year’ award from the Broward County Chapter of the United Nations Association in recognition of his many professional achievements and community involvement.
Chanel Williams, Program Chairperson of the Broward County Chapter of the United Nations Association of the USA, describes Mr. Crockett as “a humanitarian that is passionate about many issues affecting our community today. We are honored to present this well-deserved award for his charitable efforts in the community and as an outstanding corporate citizen.”
Since his becoming President in 2002, Mr. Crockett has spearheaded the Credit Union to continued healthy growth—and has worked to focus the Credit Union’s efforts on providing excellent member service as well as education and local community involvement. The Credit Union now has over 42,000 members and has become one of the largest credit unions in South Florida.
“BrightStar is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative,” said Mr. Crockett. “And as such, we offer real value and savings to our members. I am honored and humbled for this recognition from the UNA.”
Congratulations, Ralph! Your BrightStar family is very proud of you.
It’s International Credit Union Week. And we’d like to thank everyone for being a part of the Credit Union Movement. Credit union members understand the CU difference. We’re member-owned, not-for-profit cooperatives. We care about people, and we offer real value. Help us celebrate by joining us at your local branch on International Credit Union Day, Thursday, October 21. Each BrightStar location will have a table filled with great giveaways for YOU, our members (while supplies last).
For over 58 years, the third week in October has been set aside by credit unions for this celebration. BrightStar Credit Union is joining other credit unions worldwide in celebrating this week with the theme of “Local, Trusted, Serving You.”
In 1946 BrightStar Credit Union was chartered by 26 Teachers of Broward County Public Schools. Today BrightStar CU is a full-service financial organization with more than 42,000 members. Listen to Stacy Johnson, who runs a website called “Money Talks”. He recently did a story about the benefits of a credit union. Stacy gives 7 reasons to join, but many of our members know there are definitely more than just 7 reasons. If you’re a member of a Credit Union and are reaping all the rewards, spread the word just like Stacy is!
We have told you before, that BrightStar Credit Union’s Credit Cards are listed on http://www.creditcardconnection.org with a whopping 5-STAR rating! Our cards are GREAT because we have NO annual fee, NO balance transfer fee, super LOW interest rates, a LOW late fee, and NO penalty rates. But don’t just take our word for it, Check out Suze Orman on the VIEW last week recommending credit union credit cards to the world because we are fair, ethical and offer real value to our members.
BrightStar Credit Union employees showed our Falcon spirit at the 2010 Flanagan High School homecoming football game. BrightStar CU was a sponsor of the game and is a partner in education with Flanagan High School. The nationally ranked Flanagan high school band & color guard had an outstanding halftime show along with the announcement of the Homecoming Court. Not to be outdone, the falcon football team advanced to an impressive 4-0 record. Cosmo, BrightStar’s Super-Saver Hero, even made time to fly in and join in on some of the fun! CONGRATULATIONS to the Falcons also, congratulations to McArthur High School for putting up a strong fight against Flanagan in the game.
