BrightStar Proudly Supports the 2012 Teachers of the Year!

We have a special place in our hearts for teachers.  That’s because of all the great work teachers do in our schools—but also because the Credit Union was founded by 26 Broward teachers back in 1946.  (By the way, yes, this year is our 65th anniversary, and yes, we will be celebrating, but more on that later.)  One of the things we do every year to show our support for teachers is to help sponsor the annual Broward Schools Teacher of the Year program.

Schools across the District honor one of their teachers as the school’s nominee. That alone is a great accomplishment.  But then these teachers are eligible for the Broward County Public Schools Teacher of the Year program. The teachers go through a rigorous selection process, and the top six teachers move on to compete in the County-wide competition.  The winner will be announced on February 16th.

We’re going to spend the next week or so profiling each of the six finalists for Broward’s Teacher of the Year. So be sure to check back starting tomorrow as we recognize each of these wonderful teachers.  They are all winners because of the incredible work they do educating Broward’s students.  Let’s celebrate our star teachers right here in Broward County!
